Trip to the Battlefields
Harry P, Matthew C and Mr Phillips visited the battlefields and war graves of Belgium over the weekend 8-10th February.
Twelve other schools from around the country were also on the trip organised by the First World War Centenary Battlefields Tour Program in conjunction with Equity and funded by the Department for Education.
The trip all revolved around a local soldier from Shepperton who the students researched. We visited many sites including the Thiepval Memorial, Somme Battlefields and Last Post at the Menin Gate in Ypres. Finally we visited the Tyne Cot memorial and left a cross and poppy on the grave of our local soldier. Overall it was a fantastic trip for both students and teacher!
