We were saddened to hear the news last night that Queen Elizabeth had passed away. We are grateful for the duty and service she has given to our nation throughout her reign. Our sympathies are with King Charles III and the royal family at this time and we offer them our condolences.
We have marked this sad moment in our nation’s history with the students this morning. In an extended form time the students were led by their tutors through a specially prepared activity to reflect on Queen Elizabeth II’s life and the qualities and values she embodied in her reign. Each tutor group listened to the national anthem and held a minute’s silence as a mark of respect.
As a school we will compile a book of condolences from our community to send to the palace. We will offer students the chance to record this next week and will provide another tutor time activity to reflect on her life and long reign to help with this process.
We know that while many students will not be affected by this news for some it may be hard, and might trigger sad thoughts of others who have passed away or are unwell. If you are worried that your son or daughter is finding this difficult please let us know so we can ensure they have the support they need at this time.
School will run as normal through this period of national mourning, but should we receive any announcements that would impact school opening we will let you know as soon as plans have been shared with schools.
