Curriculum Information for Key Stage 3 students
Welcome to the PE and DANCE department
Aim:
To provide a challenging and diverse curriculum designed to encourage independence, develop confidence and promote teamwork.
Overview:
We will do this by offering all students a broad and balanced curriculum on a rotational basis.
What topics will I study in KS3 (years 7, 8 & 9):
The following activities will be covered on a rotational basis – netball, football, rugby, hockey, basketball, badminton, volleyball, gymnastics, dance, athletics, fitness, rounders, cricket, softball and tennis.
At the end of each term all students will be assessed on the four activities they have covered which is based on their practical ability, their understanding of the rules and regulations and on how well they can evaluate their own and the work of others.
Can I study this at KS4?
Students can choose to study GCSE Dance, GCSE PE and BTEC Sport in their option choices.
Are there any enrichment opportunities in school?
We offer a range of sports clubs after school as part of the Thamesmead Plus programme and enter many inter-school, District and County competitions.
Trips to sporting events and opportunities to work with outside coaches.
