Heathrow Virtual Work Experience – 27-31 March 2023

Heathrow Airport is running a week-long Virtual Work Experience programme for local students aged 16 to 19, designed to fuel their ambitions, develop their employability skills, and inspire them about careers at the airport.

The programme, which is being delivered by education partner Springpod, will run from 27th to 31st March 2023 and covers areas such as construction, engineering, marketing, IT, and business at the airport. Heathrow and several other airport-based businesses, known collectively as ‘Team Heathrow’ have all contributed to making this programme to show the diverse range of careers at the airport.

The programme is a fully online digital experience using videos, quizzes, and activities, enabling students to learn about the airport and bring to life their studies with real-world industry examples. Overall, there is around 10 hours of content for students, who can complete the programme to fit around their schedule.

During the week, students will also have access to a number of live webinars with colleagues from across Team Heathrow including senior directors and apprentices who will give students an insight into their career and answer questions. Students will learn about Heathrow’s history, vision and values, diversity and inclusion and how they work collectively with other organisations to keep Britain’s busiest airport running smoothly.

If your student would like to sign up for this programme please follow the link below, where they will be able to register.

Mercedes Benz apprenticeships

Mercedes-Benz are currently recruiting for apprentices across a variety of roles, in our nationwide network of retailers and dealers. They have vacancies for Light Vehicle and Heavy Vehicle Technicians, Customer Service Experts and Retail Parts Advisors.

Students who may be interested in doing an apprenticeship, should visit Using your postcode, search for vacancies in the local areas and then make an application.  Vacancies are constantly changing, with new positions being added regularly so please do check back regularly as new positions may become available.

Apprenticeships are open to students who are 16 and over (they must be 16 to start the programme in September, so can apply whilst they are 15), and ideally students should have/be predicted a grade 4 or above in English and Maths at GCSE.  Functional skills can be offered where these grades have not been achieved.  Further information can be found on the website, as well as some hints and tips about writing an application.
