Pupil Premium Excellence at Thamesmead School
Thamesmead School in Shepperton are proud to have won a Pupil Premium Award 2016. We were made aware of this in a letter from the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Childcare and Education, Sam Gyimah, who wrote that
“The reason you have been selected is that you are one of the most improved schools in the country in terms of attainment and value added progress of your disadvantaged pupils since 2012. It is clear that you and your staff have provided your disadvantaged pupils with a good start in life and prepared them well for further study training or employment. I would like to congratulate your governors, parents and pupils for their hard work and success, and thank you for your leadership in making such a difference to the future successes of your pupils.”
Pupil Premium students are those identified as coming from disadvantaged backgrounds.
This comes only a week after the GCSE results of students last summer were identified in The Times as being the 5th best out of all the secondary schools in Surrey.
