Year 8 Bocketts Farm Trip
A great day in Bocketts Farm was had by all of Year 8. When we arrived at the farm we were welcomed by the wonderful staff and they introduced themselves to the students and from there we all set off in our different groups to explore the farm.
First up was animal handling and then students saw a goat being milked. Students also saw horses and donkeys and then learned about different types of cows, pigs and sheep. In the kitchen garden students identified the vegetables and herbs Bocketts grow at the farm. On the tractor ride students got a real sense of the size of the farm and the work that goes into the running of farms throughout the different seasons.
Excitement grew as the students lined up for the Pig Race where Justin BierBoar took victory on both days.
It was a really enjoyable and worthwhile day with students learning all about sustainability and diversification and this has linked in brilliantly to what they are currently learning in class.
